Two warriors are shown in repose outdoors. The seated man on the left wears a chitoniskos (knee-high dress) and krepides (boots); a sword in its scabbard rests on his lap. In his raised right hand (now missing) he held a spear. Opposite him a warrior stands nearly frontal, nude but for a chlamys that is wrapped over his left forearm. He is barefooted and holds a pair of spears in his left hand. The ‘heroic’ warrior nudity of the standing figure and the painterly quality and size of this tombstone are unique in the funerary art of the city.
