foundation year

The University of Oxford's Astrophoria Foundation Year is a one year course for UK state school students who have experienced disadvantage or disruption during their education. Typically, it is for students that have been unable to the meet the academic entry requirements for their chosen undergraduate degree programme (e.g. AAA for Classics).

The programme is fully funded. Tuition and accommodation fees are covered by the University and students receive a non-repayable bursary for their living costs.

There are a range of subjects are on offer including Classics as well as Classics and English. The Astrophoria Foundation Year has lower academic entry requirements and for Classics these are BBB. A number of other qualification types are also accepted.

Students that successfully apply for Classics with Foundation Year, and pass their foundation year course at the required level, can progress automatically onto the undergraduate degree at Oxford. Applications are submitted through UCAS and the deadline to apply for 2024 entry is on 31 January 2024.
