My research focuses on Mysteric practices and religious experience in Antiquity.
I have been particularly interested in the spread of ‘Orphic’ religious movements in Greece and the experience of Mithraists in Late Antiquity. I also work on the reception of Mystery Cults in the long Nineteenth century and its impact on European religion.
