Academic Background

I completed BA and MA degrees in archaeology at the University of Siena (BA 2008, MA 2010) and a PhD in the same subject at the University of Leicester (2016). I held an AHRC Cultural Engagement Fellowship in 2016, followed by a Rome Fellowship and a Residential Research Fellowship at the British School at Rome (2017-19). I started my Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the University of Oxford in May 2020.

Research Interests

My main research interests encompass Greco-Roman architecture, architectural ornament, urbanism and urban history. More broadly, I focus on research themes related to Classical archaeology, ancient Mediterranean material culture, Roman history, and the archaeology of the Roman provinces, with special regard to North Africa (Libya to Morocco). I have undertaken archaeological fieldwork at a range of sites across Italy, Greece and Morocco.
