My research interests lie in how technological developments influenced sociopolitical trajectories of urbanisation and state formation in the Early Iron Age Mediterranean. A particular focus is the application of ‘sociotechnical systems’ as a path to understanding the effects of iron smelting technologies on Greek social and political structures.
Additional research interests concern Adriatic archaeology and the analysis of ceramics through the integration of archaeological, science-based, and ethnoarchaeological methodologies.
