I am a first year DPhil student at Christ Church funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.  My doctoral thesis researches the role that fakes and forgeries play in Seneca’s reception. From Antiquity to the Renaissance, pseudepigrapha were treated interchangeably with Seneca’s genuine works thereby representing ‘Seneca’ for generations of readers. My project considers the varied range of Senecan pseudepigrapha in order to investigate how they responded to Seneca, and, in turn, shaped views of Seneca’s life and literary output.

Prior to the doctorate, I read for a BA in Literae Humaniores at Christ Church, followed by a MSt in Classical Languages and Literature. Alongside Seneca, I have broader interests in Augustan and Imperial Latin poetry, Hellenistic philosophy, textual criticism, and Neo-Latin literature.
