A note on acoustics

When organising any conference or event to be held at the Ioannou Centre, please always try to bear in mind that due to the design of the building, noise generated in the Common Room and Atrium area has a tendency to carry upwards to the study galleries where students and research staff work year-round.

School visits

Outreach Officers and school representatives should also be made aware of potentially disruptive sound amplification when introducing large groups of schoolchildren to the Centre, and should remind their parties to keep voices down whenever using the common parts of the building.

Whilst we can and do offer baby changing facilities on site, we request that alternative arrangements for childcare be made by organisers and delegates whilst attending conferences and events.

Due to Health and Safety considerations, dogs are not permitted in any part of the building

Out of hours events

Keys will be made available for any conference or event that will run outside normal working hours (Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00). These will be given to the event organiser, who will need to return them to the Faculty the next working day. This person may also need to arrange a time to come in to talk to a member of Reception staff about Health & Safety procedures for when the building is unstaffed.
