Nicolette D'Angelo

My primary research interests include ancient medicine and its later receptions, especially with regards to ancient and modern conceptions of gender and sexuality. Motivating these interests are questions about the role Classics can play in social justice projects. Currently, I am working on an MPhil dissertation on Classics and COVID-19 which explores the receptions of writers like Hippokrates and Thucydides in popular and scholarly coverage of the novel coronavirus.

I am also a member of the lyric translation group and an artist-translator for the Oxford Greek Play (Orestes 2020). Outside of the Faculty, I teach ancient and modern languages to primary and secondary school students in Warrington as part of The Challenge Academy Trust.
