My academic interests lie squarely in Greek tragedy, and particularly in the study of the role and voice of the chorus in these plays. My thesis examines just one element of this rich area of study, connecting gender and the choral voice by using a sociolinguistic approach alongside more conventional textual and contextual analysis. Beyond my doctorate work, I run the graduate Tragedy Discussion Group which meets fortnightly during term-time, and am often to be found in the audience at modern performances of ancient dramas.
