I focus upon ancient Roman history, religion, society and culture from the Late Republic to Early Imperial period. I am particularly interested in the interactions between these aspects of ancient life, and how each influenced and was influenced by the others.
My doctoral thesis explored the cult of the Dioscuri in Rome during this period, investigating the development of the cult through a number of thematic areas: their cult sites in the city, their epiphanies, and their relationships with different societal groups. In line with my wider interests, I assessed how and why the cult developed in the way it did, and how this tied in with the wider socio-political landscape. I am currently editing this project for publication.
