I study dialectic in Latin literature; the focus of my doctoral project is Augustine’s De dialectica (387 C.E.). Through philological and philosophical analysis of this fragment, its sources, and related contemporaneous texts, I am working to identify how Augustine reconfigures the relationship between language and thought in dialectic.

My other research interests include the history of the soliloquy and dialogue, Latin Platonism, the intersection between philosophy and drama, and ancient theories of sorrow.
