Dissertion Title: The Development of Roman Provincial Administration in Asia Minor, 133 bce – c. 70 ce

Description: My research addresses the question of how pre-modern imperial states developed government structures to administer provincial regions. Focusing on the example of the provinces of Asia Minor under Roman rule, it interrogates the roles played by legislation, magistrates, central institutions and local agents in creating a durable administrative structure.
