Pergamum: the lower town
Down the hillside to the south of the acropolis lie the remains of the Hellenistic town, with steep stairways linking the streets which follow the contours. The following two images show the remains of some baths (probably) and the gymnasium.
The change in masonry style suggests that the upper parts of the this tower were a later addition or repair. Notice also the narrow gateway to the right of the tower.
