Pergamum: the citadel from the west
While the easier route and main entrance to Pergamum's acropolis lie to the south, it is possible to approach from the west, following goat tracks up the steep hillside towards the theatre. Locals seemed to regard this method as insane, and recommended at least going up to the acropolis by taxi.
