The Postgate and Walbank Prize Competition 2013. 

This competition is for the best essays written by school and college students relating the ancient world to contemporary society and events. 

There are  a number of prizes, including two main prizes of £300 for the best essays on historical topics and literary/cultural (the Walbank prize and the Postgate prize, respectively).  One of the main objectives of the prize competition is to encourage the widest number of school pupils in their study of the ancient world, so there are a number of smaller prizes for essays that show exceptional qualities, and certificates will be given to many other students whose essays show particular merit.
