Mr Guy Brindley

Profile:

I am currently studying for a DPhil in Classical Languages and Literature at Jesus College, researching the conflicted nature of fatherhood in Greek tragedy. I previously studied for my B.A. and Master's at the college.

Teaching:

In addition to my doctoral studies, I teach various undergraduate language options, including Greek unseen translation, and reading classes in Greek and Latin set texts for both Mods and Greats, as well teaching tutorials for the Greek Tragedy paper at Greats.

Research Keywords:

family and fatherhood in Greek tragedy

Research Interests:

My main research interest is the role of family and its dysfunction in Greek tragedy. I am currently exploring the pervasive conflict within the genre between fatherhood and other roles and responsibilities, such as political leadership, heroic activity and divine status.
