Profile

As University Lecturer in Classical Art and Archaeology and Tutor of Classical Archaeology at Lincoln, I organize undergraduate teaching in College for the BA in Classical Archaeology and Ancient History and teach the options in Greek art and archaeology of the first millennium BC to undergraduate and graduate students of the University. I also lecture for the University on the same topics. My research interests are in Greek archaeology and art from roughly the archaic to the late hellenistic Periods (6th-1st centuries BC), with particular emphasis on central and northern Greece (Thessaly and Macedonia). My doctoral dissertation on Thessaly discussed the funerary archaeology of the region. My interest in Thessaly has since expanded to include research on its urban development, athletics, interactions with Macedonia and the rest of the Greek world. I also work on aspects of classical greek art, in particular, red figure vases, funerary painting, terracottas and jewellery. I am currently working on the publication of old excavations of three Thessalian cemeteries conducted under the auspices of the Archaeological Society of Athens, namely: Demetrias, Pharsalos and Metropolis.

Research Interests

Thessaly and Macedonia from the 6th to 1st centuries BC; funerary archaeology and iconography, greek art, esp.: greek painting, red-figure vases, terracottas.
