Textual Events: Re-thinking Poetics in a Performance Culture

Magdalen College, 27/28 March 2015. 

This conference has two connected aims. It will examine how early Greek lyric texts conjure up and shape their own settings; and it will debate what meaning and what effects these texts create beyond their social function.

Postgraduate bursaries:

Thanks to the generosity of the Classical Association we are able to offer a certain number of bursaries for postgraduate students. To apply for one of these bursaries, please send an email to thomas.phillips@classics.ox.ac.uk and felix.budelmann@classics.ox.ac.uk, with:

(a) a statement of not more than 200 words, explaining how the conference is
relevant to your research.

(b) an estimate of the costs (travel, accommodation) you will incur, in addition to
the conference fee, and an indication of other sources of funding available to
you.

The deadline for application for bursaries is 27 February. Bursaries will cover the conference fee and make a small contribution to other costs.
